House Hunting
So, DH and I have been house hunting for the last 6 weeks or more. I really liked one of the first houses we saw, it was move-in condition, and lots of possibilities. DH wanted to continue to look. So lots of duds (my opinion, DH really liked 1 I thought was tiny) later we finally see one that we both LOVE. As soon as I walked in I said quietly to my husband "I love it!". What I loved about it compared to any of the others was the flow, the way the living room and dining room were so open as you walked in. As you walked in the front door directly to your right there was a little sitting area/library. There was a room that had been turned into a den, and a small room across from the "master" bedroom that would have been the perfect knitting room. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. We just saw the house on Sunday, and we found out later in the day at the open house they were having, that a bid had already been placed. We got confirmation on Monday and had to make a quick decision, and we both said go for it.
Well, long story short, the 1st bid fell through, but another one came in higher than ours, but they wanted a 60 day closing, owners cam back to us and asked for us to meet them in the middle with a 30 day closing, we said YES. The owners lawyer said the realtor would notify us in the morning. Well, morning came, we called and were told that we would get our answer by the afternoon. At this point I'm realizing that their realtor is playing us, but DH says our realtor had said that this was "realty", and especially Clifton, NJ realty, and this happens. I was on my way home, extremely pissed that we hadn't heard anything when my realtor called and broke to me that 4 NEW bids came in. I knew it, I just knew that this was what they were hoping by holding out on giving us an answer.
What do we do now? I'm done with looking, but I can't stay here ANY LONGER! I also don't want to just settle because of my urgency to move out. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. This Sucks!

I know the way you feel. I went through that when we were looking for houses, before we got the duplex we're in now (and I hate being a landlord let me tell you! but that's another story in itself!)
Anyhow, I'm sure... when it's right... you'll get the house. And you'll know it's "the" house. Have faith!
Happy Knitting!
Just keep looking you will find something that is right for you.
Just remember that everything happens for a reason. When you least expect it the most perfect house will fall right into your lap. Yes, I'm Miss Optomist today. :-)
You poor, poor girl. That is just so typical isn't it. Pity you couldn't have signed a contract on the spot so that later bids couldn't be accepted. Don't give up though, you perfect house is out there, and you WILL get it.
